• The syllabus comprises four sections: Decision Making, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge

1. 1XLRI's own selection process for its MBA (Business Management) and MBA (Human Resource Management) programmes runs on Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) plus Personal Interview (PI) — the essay component was earlier part of the XAT exam itself but for the past two years has been conducted separately at the PI-shortlisting stage
2. 2Candidates are shortlisted for AEW/PI using their XAT score and academic record
3. 3PI call letters go out by email, and shortlisted candidates must fill a PI-city preference form (interview cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Bangalore) — this step is officially called 'update interview city' and is mandatory, failing which candidature is cancelled

13. 13Separately, at the 1,177+ other XAT-score-accepting institutes (XIMB, IMI Delhi/Kolkata/Bhubaneswar, IMT Ghaziabad/Nagpur/Hyderabad, Great Lakes Chennai, ISBR and others), each institute sets its own XAT-percentile cutoff (recent-year overall cutoffs on file: XLRI 95, IMI Delhi 90, IMT Ghaziabad 90, Great Lakes Chennai 90, ISBR 75) and runs its own separate WAT/GD/PI round and admission offer

• XAT 2027 exam itself has not yet been conducted (scheduled January 3, 2027), so no cutoff figures exist for this cycle yet
• For reference, the XAT 2026 cutoffs were: XLRI BM overall 94 percentile (Engineering Male/Non-Engineering Male), 88 percentile (Engineering/Non-Engineering Female and Transgender)
• XLRI HRM overall 92 percentile (Engineering Male), 90 percentile (Non-Engineering Male), 87 percentile (Engineering Female/Transgender), 84 percentile (Non-Engineering Female/Transgender)
• XLRI also applies sectional cutoffs in QADI, VALR and DM alongside the overall cutoff, and cutoffs vary further by programme and category
